It's a shame this release by one of Christian alternative music's hottest band is so short ... it's a hot CD, but I can't very well give five stars after paying $16 for just over a half hour of music. And it's a shame I didn't finish this review when I started it :-) But better late than never, eh?
If Not Ashamed put the Newsboys on the map in 1992, Going Public has assured them a continued spot in the limelight. It doesn't have the same level of hyperactivity and techno sound, but the boyz' message hasn't diminished one bit. From "Real Good Thing," which reminds us to be thankful that we don't get what we deserve, the the AC radio hit "Be Still," this album is welcomed in my library.
The first song I heard off of the CD was "Be Still," which played on a radio station in Albuquerque, New Mexico, before the CD was released. With it's message to "shine, let them wonder what you've got - make them wish that they were not on the outside looking bored." Hey - we've got an exciting gift in the form of salvation; let's show them that we're excited about it!
The title track takes "Not Ashamed" to the next level. It's not enough to simply be unashamed - we've got to speak out, to reach out - to go public with our faith...
